Team Hörluchs® climbs Zugspitze for charity
Our adventure began on Friday, July 19, under bright sunshine at the Olympic Ski Jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From there, we hiked through the picturesque Partnach Gorge to the Bock Hut, where we took our first break and refilled our bottles with cool mountain water. Continuing towards the Reintalanger Hut, we had a midday rest. The next part of the route became increasingly challenging with rising elevation, rockier terrain, and rain setting in until we finally reached our overnight destination, the Knorr Hut at 2,051 meters. The first stage, covering 20 kilometers and about 7 hours, posed significant challenges, but through team support and cohesion, we successfully navigated the path.
On Saturday, July 20, we began the second part of our tour under slightly cloudy and foggy weather. The route took us from the Knorr Hut to the Zugspitz Plateau, where we faced the particularly demanding final ascent to the summit station. The initial part of the final stretch consisted of coarse gravel, requiring tactical step placement to avoid slipping. In the second part, we clung to thick steel cables along rocky cliff walls until we were finally greeted by cheers at the summit. Despite adverse conditions and the demanding trail, we reached the peak in about 3 hours, thanks to the tireless efforts of all participants and Hubert Schwarz’s support.
The Highlight: The Check Presentation
Upon reaching 2,962 meters, we celebrated the pinnacle of our tour: the presentation of a €60,000 donation check to Birgit von Bentzel from RTL. This donation will go to the RTL Donation Marathon, supporting numerous charitable projects. Following this emotional ceremony, we enjoyed a communal lunch featuring a delicious Kaiserschmarrn. We then took the Zugspitzbahn back down to the valley, rounding off the day with a relaxed gathering.
Strong Team Spirit at Hörluchs®
Among the participants were Hörluchs® Managing Directors Thomas Meyer and Norbert Deinhardt, as well as numerous hearing care professionals and Hörluchs® employees. One participant’s statement perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our tour: “Many would not have been able to overcome this challenge alone, but together we succeeded.” The team cohesion and mutual support were crucial to our success and enriched the entire experience.
We thank all participants and supporters for their extraordinary commitment and look forward to achieving great things together in the future!
